The venting is properly done in a house were buying. However, I'm replacing the old vanity sink with one that has no overflow. Is that the same as having a "built-in" vent such that in replacing it I need to vent the new sink differently? There's plenty of room for an AAV to be installed as an alternative, but do I need it?
Thanks very much.

You do NOT have to change the plumbing, if the original sink was done correctly, but you should understand that sinks without overflows do NOT always drain as rapidly as the old one did.

The speed of drainage will depend on whether the air trapped in the drain line riser can "escape" at the same time the water is trying to flow through the openings.
