Bath tubs in my house - master and guest - are too small for an adult to take a bath.

They are both 58" long by 29 inches wide and measure 14 inches from the floor to the top of the tub.

I could go as wide as 31 inches in the master bath room but really can't go any longer (I'd bump into the buttress wall that the master shower connects to.

I really want a deeper tub.

Do they make tubs that are deeper than can be sandwiched in such a small space? I don't want to redo the entire bathroom.

Thanks

The tub is a standard 5' one - fine for when the average person was shorter...those extra inches are inside the wall, butted up to the studs. You can get deeper tubs, but they also tend to be wider. Longer is nice, too, but that takes much more rearrangement in a typical bathroom. When I did mine, I put in a 6' tub, and really would have like a 78" one or 7'. OUr hurry-up society often doesn't see the relaxation available from a nice soak...too bad.

Kohler makes a 60"x31"x 19 3/4" tub. Your tub was a "builder model" used in the average "tract home". Normally the next step up, in a cast iron tub, was 32" wide by 16" high. Your home was built AFTER the FHA eliminated the 28" wide by 14" high one as the standard acceptable minimum size, otherwise you would have an even larger hurdle for a larger tub..

Just as important as the tub height, check the specs for the height of the overflow. For some reason there are a lot of tubs out there which appear to be nice and deep, but with the overflow too low to allow the increased depth to be used.

Look at Jetta tubs. They used to make a model called WaterDance "Soothing Falls" which seems to be discontinued. I tried one out in California on a visit to Tubz, and it was the most comfortable tub I ever sat in. Dimensions were 60" x 30" wide x 25 3/4" deep. The bath well itself is 24". 53 gallons for jet use, 69 to overflow and very well insulated. Acrylic, easy to clean and polish out scratches. Jetta makes several models of deep soaking tubs so I'm sure there is one that would fit your space.
