Hi, I recently purchased a push on valve from Lowe's.The inlet is a 5/8" O.D. and 3/8" outlet O.D. This is a replacement for a frozen water shut off valve to the upstairs toilet. I was told push on valves are a snap (literally.) Turns out my copper water supply line is 5/8" O.D. (not 1/2" as I had presumed). The I.D. of the valve is 5/8", same as O.D. of water supply line, so the valve will not fir over it. Any suggestions as to how I can solve the "fit" problem??? Lowe's said the valve should fit over most standard copper supply lines. Help, please, as I've already cut the old valve off, and water to the house is shut off until I replace the valve/ Thank you!
