Hi. I have a 40/60 psi convertible jet pump. However, in the past few months, it has been unable to attain even 40psi and we have to set the pressure switch at approximately 20/40. Does anyone know what could cause this to happen?

Sounds like a Sears pump with the 40/60 thing. Does this convertable jet have the shallow well ejector attached or did someone just plug the small opening in the front of the pump? Or is it a deep well jet hookup with two pipes leaving the pump going to the well?

Yeah, it's a Sears pump. It is a deep well jet hookup with the 2 pipes leaving the pump and going to the well.

Sounds like you may have a problem with the deep well ejector, which is on the two pipes down in the well. There's a little nozzle in the ejector which can get plugged up. This will keep the pump from building pressure.

Or it could be a pinhole leak in one of the drop pipes.
