I've had this happen a couple of times over the years (after about a month of operation). I since have gotten into the habit of making sure the four 1/2 inch bolts from the motor to the pump are tight. On the goulds pumps you don't have to take the wire guard off to check, but with most other brands you have to take the wire guard off.
