I have a Moentrol valve which I will place on one wall of the shower, capping off the "shower" port and using the bottom “tub” port to supply a hand held shower on the opposite end of the shower. I would also like to feed a rain shower off the same line using a diverter to choose one or the other, but not both. It seems Moen only offers a 3 function transfer valve set up for for copper sweat fittings. Having been a trim carpenter by trade, when I try to sweat copper joints, I end up making a sprinkler system. The plumbing in our house is CPVC, so I really need IPS at the valve. Secondly, I only require 2 functions not 3. So far, I’ve only found the American Standard R420 in the wall that might do the trick. Any other suggestions?

Thanks again for any help.

If the diverter has three discrete functions, i.e, A, B, or C, and not A,A/B, or C, then you connect any two of the ports together, (do NOT cap one of them), so it functions as a two device diverter.
