So, new project coming up in the near future. Was talking to the plumber that came to look at the tub odor mentioned in another thread and got to talking about a few other projects I wanted to do.

Since the potfiller would be on an outside wall, he suggested that I make sure I have plenty of insulation along the back of that wall (between filler pipe and outside wall) but not between filler pipe and interior of home. Logic being that you actually want heat from the living area to keep the pipe warm but you want to insulate it from the outside. He warned about wrapping the entire pipe.

For those of you that run pipe indoors along an outside wall, what do you do? This is a cold water pipe only. Thanks again for any info ...

Make sure the cold water line is positioned as close to the inside wallboard as feasible, and pack insulation between it and the outside sheathing.

Make sure you put a nail barrier between the pipe and drywall. Also, make sure the wall is well sealed to prevent air infiltration.
