Facts:

Bradley White Electric water heater - 50 gal

wet floor around heater

removed both upper and lower element covers to check element seals - both good

discovered line of water dripping from above the lower element - the upper element is NOT leaking

Since the inside tank is domed is it possible for the Pressure Relief Valve to LEAK at the connection to the tank, beneath the outer shield, unseen? I don't know where else a leak could be coming from.

I don't want to take the PRV off unnecessarily. The valve works fine (tested)

It IS possible, but I would not put any money on it. When water is on the floor and it is NOT from the drain valve or relief valve PIPE, it is usually a leaking tank.

Thanks for getting back so quickly: I can almost agree with you EXCEPT for the small 1/4" stream of water flowing from somewhere I can't locate - which is why "d asked if the valve could leak from under the shroud. I can't think of another source.

I might try removing the valve after all.

You cannot "locate" it because it is inside the metal jacket. Any threaded connection that was leaking would be a small "seepage" NOT a 1/4" stream.
