The French do think differently. How do I get the hinges out of the bowl? My hinges are OK but there are some rubber bushings that seem to be worn out. Where do I get these bushings and not have to buy a completely new lid assembly? Thanks for any help. PS, a while back I replaced the water control diaphram and float so these buhings seemed to be easy but no, not so easy as I thought.

If these are similar to others, that bushing is the actual anchor. The bolt screws into it and as you tighten, it pulls up a tapered piece which expands the whole thing to wedge it into the hole. If it is rotating while trying to loosen it, you need to try to hold it from turning while unscrewing the bolt. But, if you do the same thing...hold it in place while tightening, it may just tighten back up rather than spinning.

I went to my better parts house and they sold me some rubber plugs (Toto) they said would work. After taking off all the lid screws and lid assy and trying to remove the hinge assy I pulled on the hinge with pliers and off came a chrome cover that hides a vertical screw that when I tightened it completely fixed the looseness of the hinge mounting. I put it all back together and then noted these little covers can be removed with the lid in place by prying them upward with a knife point in the thin crack at their lower edge. I did not need to replace the expandible rubber inserts. The screw head uses a metric hex drive. Also the lid hinge screw use a small metric hex head drive. All this could have been easier if only Porcher had better online instructions. I am keeping the Toto inserts just in case.
