When you replace galvanized pipe with PEX and it must go through attic to walls, is there a way to keep your cold water from coming out hot during the summer? You waste a lot of water letting it run until cool.

It's going to heat up no matter what you do, but you can slow it by insulating the pipe & placing it under the attic insulation.

Insultate the pipes.
It will keep them cool longer.
They will stay cool if they are used frequently.
I think that's the only thing you can do.

Kill two birds...blow in insulation. I wrapped my PEX pipes and blew in cellulose to about r40, but then again I'm in Houston.
