Heya. My pex line designated for my W.H. inlet runs horizontal off my main. I bought 18" corrugated copper connecting hoses/pipes but am thinking my cold pex line is not going to be 18" away from the water heater since its to the side rather than dropping from above.

Does this matter or is it only 18" of piping that water has to travel thru? I understand the hot water line is more of a concern. It will be the traditional line going straight up.

I have an electric water heater so there is no hot chimney. I just don't want to plumb it wrong and have to use 90s off my 3/4" line to get it raised up 18" above the water heater unless I have to.
