PE water pipe- can i make repairs underground

hi, i am wondering if it is permittable to make an underground repair (using a brass or galvanized barbed coupling with 1.25" PE black water pipe? any suggestions on how i can do this?

It should be ok if it isn't under concrete or a house.

It is usually necessary to uncover a good length of pipe so you can pull it out of alignment enough to get the fittings in.

I would use brass or stainless couplings with two all-stainless clamps at each connections. If you heat the pipe a bit with a torch or heat gun, you will get a more certain seal.

You will not have pull-apart risk if the pipe is in a straight line and buried.
