Hi All,

So sink week at my house continues. So right now I am working on the upstairs where we replaced an old sink with a wider vanity/sink combo, shifting the tailpiece several inches. Far enough to cause problems but not far enough where reconfiguration seems an obvious fix.

To remedy I figured i could get away with one of those accordion tailpiece extensions. Problem is that the way it sits on the existing tailpiece it doesn't leave much movement - plus it doesn't really need much. You can see how it looks right now from the pics. Nothing really lines up straight and it looks like crap but it is not unduly stressed and it doesn't leak.

Just wanted to see if I could get some opinions on whether I should just leave it as is or maybe some other configuration that would make it better.

Thx!

Normally I would come out as far as needed, and swing the trap to fit.
I normally use 1.5" traps with the 1.5" x 1.25" reducing slip coupling at the top for the tail piece.
Sometimes a street 22 or street 45 if I need more swing. I don't carry the accordian fittings on the vans.

The adjustable trap will start stinking very quickly. Don't use it.

Instead, make the necessary adjustments on the wall arm.

Note: finish the drywall around the pipes or use adjustable escutcheons / flanges.
