p trap under tub

can i put the p trap directly under the tub drain and wye the overflow into the drain, or do i have to put the p trap under the overflow and wye the drain into the overflow?
i ask as space is realllly tight
also what is the best way to vent a low sloping drain?

i bought special adapter to allow me to run the p trap from the drain.

works like a charm.

Most of the time, a plumber would use option B.
B allows the tub drain to be snaked from the overflow, which makes it a straight shot down into the p-trap.

Option A as drawn is also a straight shot to the P-trap. In fact it is a little straighter shot into the P-trap because there is no angle getting into the overflow.
