I have installed a new fan, but the wall switch will not operate it; only the pull chains operate the fan and/or light kit. I used two of the six wires coming from the ceiling: I attached the one hot black wire form the ceiling to the black wire in the fan/light, and I attached one white wire from the ceiling to the white and blue wires from the fan. There are still four unused wires: two black and two white; none of the four is hot. How do I use all or some of the remaining four wires to activate the wall switch?

You have your wires crossed and should not be playing with electricity.

The power should go to the light / fan switch first or be in series, or it can not control it.

Why would you think the fan's blue wire would be a neutral? Unless you at least have multimeter and know how to use it to trace circuits, you are in over your head.
