Could adding a float, like I've seen in American Standard toilets, to the flapper help increase the flush volume so waste flushes completely in one flush? Is there a Kohler part for this? I can't easily increase the water level since it is now near the top of the overflow tube. Thank you, Ralph

Replacement flappers can be used with variable settings for how much water you want to use.

Though some of the older Kohler have not flushed well regardless.
Sometimes using more water just means more water over the rim of the bowl when it overflows.

If a toilet is not flushing well, then holding the flapper up may not improve the performance. It does increase the risk of a bowl overflow. Assuming you have no problems in the drain line, you just have a toilet which is not a good flusher, and in the long run, best bet is to replace it.

I don't know if water use is becoming an issue where you live. Here in So. Calif. they are already threatening to RATION the water! Don't know how they will do that, but certainly the last thing anyone should think about is how to get MORE water into the toilet~!
