I am going to replace my half inch water service with 3/4 " PEX, how do I transition from the PEX to 1/2"copper once inside the house. I do not want to use a Sharkbite, I want it to be permanent so I can close up the wall.

If you're going to the trouble of renewing your whole service, why wouldn't you just use 3/4" copper? If you look at the inside diameter of 3/4" PEX, it's actually not that bigger than 1/2" copper so you wouldn't really notice much of a difference in volume.

There are so many ways to do it that it would be useless to try to describe them all. The easiest would be a 1" PEX by almost any size sweat copper, then a bushing from that down to 1/2" copper.
