I installed a new P Trap in sink because old one rusted through. The new one drains very slowly. I tried shortening piece that runs into drain pipe but I am out of pvc to cut off. First time doing it so could be rookie mistake. Thanks.

The pipes in the wall probably need cleaning.

If it used to drain well, and now it doesn't, it could be the end of the p-trap going into the fitting at the wall. If that is too long it will be blocked by the back of the fitting there.
