I just purchased 3 used commercial ceiling fans w/o the speed switches. I purchased at the local big box store the Lutron 3 speed switches. I noticed the switch is 1.5 amps, but, when I took a closer look at the fans, they are 1.2 amp. Will the 1.5 amp switch work with the 1.2 amp fans and not burn them up?

Having a higher current switch should be fine. It just means that it can handle higher current...the fan is what determines how much it wants to use. It's sort of like using a heavy duty extension cord to power an 5W nightlight...

It is like using the fuel meant for a Bugatti in a Smart car. It will not hurt any thing, it just doesn't give you any advantages. 1.5 amps is the MAXIMUM fan amperage, not what it has to be.
