I would replace the breaker. When they have been tripped a few times they get weaker. But I would also check for a short and see how many amps the motor pulls on start up.

More information on the pump may help. Sounds like maybe a bad start cap, bad control box, or bad pump. Could also be a chafed wire.

What is the model number of your pump? How many amps is the breaker? Is this 240 VAC single phase power?

What is "7/5hp"? I don't know if you are referring to a 5 HP pump, but that seems too large if not using 3-phase power. You can have a "5 horsepower" vacuum cleaner at home with 120 VAC, but not a 5 horsepower pump. That is because pump ratings are real.

Is is a 1.4 HP pump? That is an unusual power rating but not impossible.

Reach. We install 5 hp 230 volt single phase pumps regularly. Got a used one right in front of me as a matter of fact.

I have never seen or heard of a 1.4 hp pump

I think he means he has a 7 gpm -5 hp pump
