I am installing a set of stairs and the main vent stack (3") is in a bad spot . I need to move it over 7'/8' from its present location... so, that would be a horizontal run that can be pitched. And then up in the attic it would have a 90 and do a pitched horizontal run same distance back to the original termination out of the roof (metal roof). Can I do that? I know that the code says it needs to be the most direct path, which this is not...
Thanks!

I do not know of any code which specifies it must be "the most direct path". If you do it correctly, there is no problem with it.
