Moen has the TL2368EP Remodel plate with handle that lets you change out a shower valve in the wall. It comes in pretty handy for replacing a broken or worn valve.

Here is an old Delta valve that somebody tried to change a cartridge on. Not so lucky I guess. :(

Using the supplied template, we drew a line on the wall surface and cut some of the shower wall out.
Here I have a Moen Posi-Temp with stops. I remove the stops and the cartridige while soldering.

Then the cartridge and stop are reinstalled.

Comparing the old Delta plate to the new Moen remodel plate.

And the finished work with the new valve and shower head.

tl2368ep_repair_02.jpg

Moen Posi-Temp installed.

The homeowner had the back of the wall cut out before I got there.

The new plate covers the old 8" on center valve holes.

Lookin' pretty Dope!

Instead of something fifty years old of unknow origin, it's a new pressure balanced Moen single handle valve.

This used to have three handles. The hot side had a constant steam of water.

And old Price Phister valve. The tub spout was leaking, galvanized nipped threads had gone missing over time.
The tub did not shut off and the handles were a mess when I got there.

A ceramic blade on my jig saw opened the wall up using the provided template by Moen.

A small 1/2" pipe cutter removed the old valve.

A water spray bottle on hand with a repair coupling for the upper shower connection.

A clip to hold the tub spout better.

A new pressure balanced valve that turns easily for the kids to use.
Also new tub drain with an overflow that no longer lets water past, and a stopper that works.
