I have a problem with my kitchen faucet. It is MOEN single handle faucet with a sprayer in the side. I do not know the exact model but it is probably 20 years old and uses a cartridge #1225. The problem I have is that all of a sudden, water does not come out from the faucet (neither hot or cold). If I push the lever in the sprayer all the way I get a squirt of water and then nothing (five squirts would fill a glass). If I press half the way, I get a pulsating high pressure squirt (all the house trembles and makes noise as the water goes on and off, like if this was a hydrowasher). I think this may be a problem with the diverter valve, but I am not sure. But, where is the diverter valve? I partially disassembled the faucet and although it is similar it is not exaclty as the illustrated parts that I found in the Moen site. And when I removed the spout I found two little pieces of plastic, one that is white and looks like a washer (although instead of a round hole it is like a cross) and one black portion of something (this one broken). Not sure where they came from, maybe from inside the spout?. I am looking for the diverter / diverter valve and I can not figure out where it is. Is it possible it is (should be) inside the spout? Any tip on what to do next would be appreciated.

On most Moen kitchen faucets (with a seperate sprayer) you have to pull the spout off and the diverter is around the housing for the cartridge. Lift it off and clean it up good and try putting it back together, making sure it slides up and down freely. It slides up and down depending on where it is trying to make the water go. Look for a Moen 7310 Diverter online and You'll see what it looks like. Good Luck, Henry
