I had a large amount of water leaking through my kitchen ceiling and I am not sure what the issue is. Here are the symptoms:

1: Toilet above the leaking spot was clogged for at least 3 to 4 hours.
2: The water level in the bowl remained the same throughout the leak time.
3: There was no water leaking out from the bottom of the bowl onto the bathroom floor.
4: Once the toilet was unclogged the leaking through the ceiling stopped.

If you could please provide me any insight as to what the issue may be I’d really appreciate it. Someone I spoke to thought it was a broken seal but I thought a broken seal would result in water leaking out of the bottom of the bowl onto the bathroom floor and wouldn’t the water level of the bowl have decreased during the leak through the seal?

Please Help!

Thanks
Rob
