I was just wanting someone to clarify what exactly is done during a static leak down test vs. a pressurized leak down test. Im fairly new to doing leak detection and want to make sure that my reports are as correct as can be. The question has come up numerous times at work because some of the guys call the test by one name. While others refer to it by the other name.

A static down test is an open system filled with liquid and then observing any drop in the level. A pressure test is a closed system and a leak is verified by a drop in the pressure gauge reading.
