I have a ceiling light fixture in a very old (60+ yrs) home. The ends of the wires (cloth insulated) in the old terminal block are badly damaged due to overheating, most likely from the use of high wattage incandescent bulbs in the fixture. I had to cut the ends of the wires to expose good conductor that wasn't brittle. Now I need a larger junction box cause there are 4 BX cables from 3 different directions coming into this box.
Is there anything larger than the standard 3" or 4" round or octagonal boxes? The fixture has a 12" diam base, so the box could be quite large. I would like to avoid having to put a separate junction box and a blank cover plate in the ceiling if I could help it.
