We just bought a new home that came with a Taco hot water circulator pump which is great. We brought our Kinetico 60 system (12 years old) from our old house with us. There is no Kinetico dealer near our new town so a local plumber installed it. It runs/regenerates constantly, 24/7 which it never did before. There are only 2 of us in the house so it shouldn't be a problem. No one in this town seems comfortable working on the softener and we are wondering if 1) is it compatible with a Taco pump 2) could it have been damaged in the move or 3) just time for a new one. We are not handy and Kinetico will come down for $175/hour! Already paid $130 to have it disconnected before move and $250 to have it installed so not wanting to throw good money after bad. Suggestions?

Unless it is piped wrong the Taco hot water re-circulating system should not effect the softener because it does not draw water through the softener.

I just have some general questions. Do other people in your new town have water softener? What brand do they use? Did the plumber installing your used equipment have any comments about it?

Yes, pretty much everyone in our neighborhood said they do have a softener. Our house is only 2 months old and already has staining and deposits on fixtures. The issue is, small town and no Kinetico dealer/installer near us. None of the local plumbers had installed one before and couldn't find anyone that had serviced one either. We even called Ecowater and Culligan to see if they had done it before--not in this area. We got a HUGE water bill yesterday so plumber is here working on it now--he called Kinetico tech support with not much help because he isn't an "authorized dealer"--but he said it is stuck in backwash mode apparently so we'll see. Bottom line, Kinetico is only great when in a serviceable area I guess. If it has to be replaced we'll go with what the locals are used to I suppose.

When you say it 'regenerates constantly" do you mean it keeps running to the drain with considerable flow or a fairly slow flow rate? What kind of by pass are you using? What is your incoming water pressure?
