I'm replacing two toilets in my home and have decided on the Toto Drake and Vespin (because one toilet has a 10" rought in). But I can't decide on whether to spend the extra money on the comfort height of ADA toilet. I'm 5'-2" tall. What do you think, is the comfort height worth the extra $$$?

Toilets are typically lower than most dining room chairs. See if you can set up something that is the height of the one you want and then compare it to your existing toilet.

First of all, the Vespin does not come in ADA height. For the Drake, the difference in price is $70. As to whether ADA height is for you at 5'2", you should go to some commercial business and try them. I'm 5'8" and for me and my knees it's a no brainer. If the ADA is comfortable to you, I would not let a one time $70 stand in the way. Life is to short to be uncomfortable every time you sit on the toilet for the next many years. Are you really sure you need a 10" rough-in? The Drake will actually fit in much less than 12". Seems to me I recall perhaps 11-1/2". (Don't hold me to that exact number, but I know it will fit less than 12".)

We got the ADA height Drake a few months ago. I'm 5'6" and if I had it to do over I would have gotten the next lower height. It's not enough of a problem to make me unhappy, but enough that I sometimes wish we had made a different choice. If you're 5'2" my suggestion would be to not get the ADA height. Great toilet otherwise, though!

Gary, In theory the Toto Drake could fit on a 10 7/8" rough in...
I would say 11 with a higher degree of confidence!

Toto Vespin II CST474CEFG with SS114 Softclose seat.
Comfort Height bowl.
MaP rated at 800 Grams
This bowl was installed on a 13-1/2" rough-in using the 14" Unifit adapter.
The water shutoff can be as close as 5-1/2" to the left of center, unless it's higher off the floor, and then it can be even closer to center.
This shutoff had been replaced with a new 1/4 turn valve with brass nipple through the wall.
Installation was by James Love of Love Plumbing & Remodel 206-949-5683
In some of the older Seattle homes, the old toilets had been wall mounted tank toilets.
Those typically are 14" rough-in and need a flange repair to use standard closet bolt connections at the flange.
Everything is on the truck for that.
The Vespin comes with a standard 12" adapter or you can order a 10" or 14" adapter depending on your rough-in distance.
