There are many ways to tile over plywood. The practice is very common both here in Vancouver and around all of North America.

Industry guidelines require two layers of plywood. There are recommendations for direction of the sheets and thickness. Basic building codes often allow a 1/2" sheet of OSB be stapled over floor sheathing.

After you work through the basics. Deflection. Expansion. Yatta yatta yatta it's time to start slapping tile down. Or is it?
