The sub floor is 3" cedar boards. The oak hardwood is not t and g and about 70 years old. The combined depth of the flooring is 1.5 inches. I want to have underfloor heating installed in the basement ceiling under 2 adjoining rooms. The basement is unheated.

The info I read about possible problems of warping or splitting of the hardwood floor or not is conflicting.

There is no humidifier in the house. There is no central air in the summer. The room temp is kept at 68.

What experience has anyone had putting underfloor heating in under old hardwood?

Thanks for any thoughts.
