Our 1/2HP Badger garbage disposal needs to be replaced (it came with the house and it's leaking beyond repair). We are a family of 5 and cook a lot, although I don't use the garbage disposal as a garbage.

I've read good reviews for the WasteKing L-8000 and the InSinkerator Evolution. There's a huge price difference there! Recommendations?

I'm all for the basic ISE disposal with automatic reverse motor.. badger is the bottom of the barrel of the ISE brand..

Insinkerator is by far better. I like the Evolution and the PRO models.
The last time I installed an owners WasteKing, they complained about all the twisting during operation.
The ISE's are much smoother.
I have them on my shopping cart, but I list them with installation. I don't bother doing mail order on them. I sell them with installation, but not by themselves.

WasteKing. There's nothing worse than warning a customer about Wasteking, having them ignore you, and then hearing them complain about the WasteKing to you like somehow it's your fault that you installed it for them. I very much dislike WasteKing.

Sometimes, not always, you get what you pay for! There's pleasure to using a tool that just works well.

If you're not throwing your garbage down the drain, why do you want one of those things anyway? Many communities in
Washington will collect ALL your organic refuse and make compost out of it.

I knew I could count on everyone here to steer me in the right direction. Thank you! After reading a bit more it looks like the Pro 750 is comparable to the Evolution Essential with upgrades of antimicrobial baffle and auto-reverse. I think the Pro750/Essential will be more than adequate, unless I'm not thinking of something? My area does compost all food waste and I don't use the sink as a waste bin, but plenty of food ends up down there when I do dishes.

Right now my disposer is hard wired. I also have an outlet under my sink (dishwasher plugged in). Is there any benefit to hardwire vs plug?

As far as the outlet, it all depends on how the disposer is turned on and off. In some places it is common to wire 1/2 of the receptacle to a wall switch, while in others it is common to use an air switch.

Doh, didn't think of that. It is attached to a wall switch so of course it needs to be hard wired to that switch. Thanks!

It is common with an outlet for a disposal to plug into for that outlet to be be controlled by a wall switch.

Some places do not permit the use of the outlet, and want it hard wired. It can have a wall switch either way.

Hey everyone! i noticed this post was a while ago, but can you still help me?
I've been looking for different opinions and haven't been able to come to a final decision. Actually found this, it reads pretty decent. I'm torn between the Waste King L8000 and ISE Evolution Excel.

I need the 1HP since my family is quite big. The ISE is pricy but the Waste King seems too good to be true. We don't mind spending a bit extra, as long as the money is well-paid. Any thoughts or experience you might want to share?
thanks in advance!

I would not buy a Wasteking disposer. But then I"m a plumber and I get tired of people choosing Waste King and complaining to me when they don't like them. Buy Insinkerator.
