Hydrants

I need water to my barn,i cannot connect to my house source, can i put a hydrant near my outside water tap and a 3-4ft.hose into the hydrant and then another hydrant near my barn.

They make yard hydrants that are self draining for winter use.
This is what I use.
Most are 4 feet or longer, depending on how deep you will bury the pipe below ground.
Any pipe or hose above ground will freeze in Winter.
