sometimes this works....

It sounds like you have other problems elsewhere
in the system tha tyou will have to address..


If you are useing the correct fitting and not something
that looks like it is off--sized on the cast side of the connection...

I have found that when you have a nasty little leak on
a verticle line like you claim to have...

the easy way to fix the problem is to take it apart and basically
glob onto the cast pipe a goood heaping helping of OATY pipe dope....
this will fill in any small gaps in the pipe

unless you have a hair line crack and it sounds like the pipe has
a lot of wear and tear on the inside.....

put it back to gether and tighten it back down..and wipr off the excess pipe dope.....

this should last a long time,

It looks just like the proflex I was using...

They all look similar, I"m trying to get across that there are a variety of sizes to choose from.

The size I'm talking about is "NOT" carried at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, DIY or Fred Meyer.

You find them where professional plumbers get their fittings.
Yes the sleeve looks similar, but the interior part comes in many sizes.
