how do I remove the cartridge?

O.K. - I've got the water turned off and the acrylic knob off (single control price pfister tub shower faucet) - now what? Do I need to remove the wallplate? If so, how - twist or pry? I think I need to bring the cartridge to the store to match it for a replacement. Thanks!
