My main PVC sewer line (under the slab) had some stubborn stoppage and it was determined that calcium deposits broke apart and piled up, causing the stoppage. The plumber pulled some big pieces (3x6) through the clean out. Wow! He mentioned that the most of the trunk line is lined with this calcium. What chemical or procedure do you recommend? Is there a chemical, i.e. muriatic acid, vinegar, etc. that you recommend; and in what concentration?

Thanks for all your help,

I am not even sure that the diagnosis is correct. Was it inspected with a camera? When I have found "stuff' like that it was usually tile grout that was dumped down the drain without a lot of water to flush it through.

He used the camera and I saw it. He also pulled out multiple pieces. I am about to perform my own version of chemistry on the extracted pieces.

Would the choice to use a chain knocker be affected by the type of pipe? Cast iron, PVC, ABS, clay?

Of course if it was clay, Jigsaw probably would have also mentioned roots.
