Faucet works and does not leak. But it is very stiff.

1) Do I need a new cartridge?
2) Can someone identify what model this is so I can get a free replacement parts from Moen. I don't see any identifying numbers on the faucet. See attached picture.

Not sure that is even a Moen.

It looks like a Delta Clone.

China may know. Is that the original knob ?

Take it apart and lube it with aquamarine grease or KY jelly. The O-rings should be available.

Good luck.

I don't know the model number but looks like the builder's special Moen valves that were in my house (before I replaced them). Like Don says, you may be able to take them apart and lube them. Sometimes getting Moen cartridges out is tough -- do a search here and you can read a number of threads on that.

Here's a YouTube video on replacing the cartridge for that faucet:

If you replace the cartridge, make sure you use a genuine Moen one, not one of the aftermarket ones you see in the big box store. They sometimes have both Moen and generic ones there so get the Moen.

I tried to take it apart to lube it but the screw is too tight. While trying to remove the screw I managed to strip it. Now how do I remove a stripped screw? See picture.

I also attached a picture of the original faucet if this can help anyone identify it. It is the original faucet/knob that came with the house.

I would use a miniature (4 or 5 inch) Vice-Grip to try to strongly grip the outer part of the screw head.

You could also try tapping a properly sized screwdriver bit into the munged up slot to reform it a bit and to possibly loosen things. Then apply what torque you can with one hand, simultaneously apply torque with the Vicegrip with a second hand. Hold the knob with a third hand.

In the future, I would use good Phillips #2, or if that is too large Phillips #1, screwdriver bits. Those pointy ones (Reed and Prince) , or the cheap non-machined screwdrivers are not what you want to use for this job.

I am not a pro.

Starting with the proper size screwdriver helps.

You can grind or file a slot, So a flat blade will work. A easy out may be easy.

At this point, I would try some Silicon spray lube, Maybe you can get it in the valve for a half fast fix.

Good Luck.

use a drill bit to remove the screw's head, then pull the handle off. Hopefully, your cartridge will extract, although, I had one the other day that the valve has to be replaced because the cartridge is fused into the valve body.

Turn the water off first. Or leave it on and blow it out.

I give up on getting this faucet open.
Bought a new faucet a home depot and I have a plumber coming on Thursday to install.
$164 per hour + $59.95 to show up.
