This does not look correct to me and I want to replace above ground PVC with galvanized pipe. If you look at image 145206 you will see two pipes being fed off the main. The one in the center feeds a 3 bedroom home and adjacent landscaping and the one on the left feeds a couple of acres with faucets and drip irrigation. Also, the sand filters. What do you think about them? Should I replace them or keep them? I have zero plumbing knowledge but I have lots of experience! ;-) That said, the only part I can claim credit for in these photos is the ball valve. There were so many leaks and breaks when I got this place a few months ago, that installing the valve seemed necessary. Thank you in advance for any help you might provide.

The plumbing looks OK to me. You only need the filters is they are actually filtering anything. But if they are catching sand or anything, where they are located looks fine.

I would strongly avoid putting new galvanized to carry drinking or washing or flushing water for your household uses. Alternatives are copper, CPVC, and PEX. It is a rust thing.

Old galvanized is not as bad. I think the old stuff may have built up a mineral coating that makes it OK in many instances. But if you are replacing, find an alternative.

Valve & Reach - thank you for the replies. Good to know. It looked deficient to me. I will replace the PVC valve because the current one leaks and consider it good. Thanks again.
