Plumber01
In the Trades
I know this is a long shot but I figured some of you may have a idea.
This is a brand new building. Seven story hotel. One particular hotel room has a sewer gas smell.
We have a shower, lav and toilet. The traps are not dry. I pulled and reset the toilet, the seal seems fine. These are back to back rooms that share a plumbing wall. None of the surrounding rooms have a sewer gas smell.
Today I discovered when I shut down the hvac unit in the room the smell dissappeared. I thought for a second, maybe the hvac units on the roof are pulling sewer gas from roof vents, but all of the rooms would be affected so i ruled that out.
Additionally, when I pulled the toilet I stuck my nose in the drain, no sewer smell. Disconnected the lav trap from trap arm, no smell. We even cut a hole in the plumbing wall to determine if there was a bad joint on the venting, or perhaps a missing plug in a tap tee. To my surprise, no smell in the plumbing wall.
Thoughts? I'm stumped....
