Hi..

In our old house we have a shower head diverter that allows you to turn on the shower head or a handheld shower head. It also allows you to turn off each one independently.. over the years it began to leak and i couldnt find any way to repair it so I am looking for a replacement. I went to lowes and home depot and the only one they have is a 3-way diverter that turns either one on or both on but no OFF function. The one we have looks like a Y and each part of the Y has a push valve to turn it on/off.. I cannot find this piece local as we live in a rural area so I have searched online and haven't found one. I did pick up one from lowes and like i said it doesnt turn off either one and my wife hates it.. it kinda looks like this one but each part of the Y has an on/off switch you push..

i can post a pic when i get home if that is allowed.

Any help greatly appreciated..

It would be best to turn it off at the shower valve. If you turn it off at the shower head it can cause a cross flow where hot can get into the cold line or cold can get into the hot line. If you are determined to shut it off at the shower head you could install a shut off valve before the "Y"
