Some years back I worked at a solar engineering firm and we used Grundfos pumps exclusively on all our solar hot water installations. We thought they were the best, and we never had a single one go bad in the several years I was there. So I'm wondering if their submersible pumps are also excellent. Anybody have an opinion?

Thank you. That's good to know. The small solar hot water pumps were very well made. Glad to hear they've kept the quality in.

Grundfos pumps are not made as heavy and long lasting as they were in the 70's, but they are still a good pump. I've got one of the first spline shaft pumps they sent out to test in 82 that is still working today. As long as you are using one of their standard constant speed pumps it will last for decades. Any of their pumps with an electronic controller or VFD will have increased cost and a shorter life. But I had rather they try to make more money that way, than by making pumps to only last a couple years as some other pump manufacturers do.
