In a new toilet, should the white smooth glossy finish of the bowl change under the rim to be darker in color and not smooth? I have looked at many toilets that don't seem to have a consistent or even finish under the rim of the bowl. I was wondering if this is a quality issue or normal? See photos. In the photos it's hard to see, but there is a darker rim color and it feels rougher to the touch - not smooth.

It's pretty common for the underside of rims to look a bit rough. I see that pretty much across the board.
Lucky we don't normally look there. :)
