I planned on building my garage using standard 2x4 construction, but I'm debating as to whether I want to use 2x6 studs on the garage door opening side only. I think it will give the door a better setback from the siding. The wall would be a little stronger, but it's a gable end so there won't be much load on it. What do you think?

Thanks,
Jason

You will need a 2X6 jamb around the door opening anyway, so their is probably no advantage to making the whole wall 2X6
