for toilets and urinals in commercial bldgs

    how does the proximity sensor that flushes the thing get power?

    The one's I'm familiar with (Toto) generate their own power with a small turbine. Some retrofits use a battery, but I have no experience with those.

    There you have all the answers...

    Toto has a battery but recharges it with a built in generator.
    Some of the others use battery power and usually are good for a couple of years, yet others are hardwired...

    Hey Redwood - Got any feedback to offer on the Toto's? They're showing up as spec on state gov't jobs these days. Not my department, but I am curious.

    Some even get their power from induced current off the building's electrical system.
