FLUSH YOUR TROUBLES AWAY
Bathroom contractor Terry Love loves today’s low-flow toilets (see terrylove.com/crtoilet.htm), and who wouldn’t? Unlike the 1990s low-flows that replaced their 5- to 7-gallon-per-flush ancestors, today’s best models are quieter (thank you)—and you don’t need to flush them twice. Love’s fave is the Toto UltraMax, which he describes as a “good-looking . . . toilet†with “perhaps the most thorough flush, leaving nothing in the bowl.†(Again, thank you.)
Our 1989 house has 7-gallon monsters, so we’re considering the Caroma Caravelle or Toto Acquia Dual Flush (totousa.com), which offers both 1.6- and 1.2-gallon flushes, as needed. That could halve our water bill—and the bathroom will look great.
