I have a fleck 9000 twin manual system that is leaking at the upper piston on regeneration. I'm not a plumber but am willing to do the repair myself if it's possible.

I ordered the full piston replacement kit with new seals and spacers. I have spent hours watching videos and reading about rebuilding this unit. My biggest hangup is how to depressurization both tanks.

When I put tank 1 into backwash, will it automatically depressurize tank 2? Or how do I ensure that both resin tanks are depressurized so I can take apart the control valve safely? I am just confused on how to go about this with the twin tanks. Or whether I need to bother.

Anyone able to clarify this for me?

I think if you open a faucet, the pressure will be relieved from the non-regenerating tank. I am not a pro.

9000 completely depressurizes both tanks when you shut off the inlet supply and depressurize after the unit.
