I'm considering a softener from a local dealer who recommends the 5810. I believe they use the SXT as standard. The XTR2 looks fancier but is it much better? I haven't asked the difference in cost. What should I expect it to be (ballpark?)

Thanks!

The XTR2 is really nice. I have it at my own house and really appreciate the added diagnostics capabilities. For most people the difference would not be important but since I use my house as a test facility it can be helpful.

Either way you will do just fine.

FYI the touchscreen controller will probably add at least a couple hundred bucks minimum.

Sdsvtdriver,

Did you ending up going with the 5810 with XTR2? I posted a seperate thread but I'm also considering. I'm in N. OC and interested in which local dealer you were working with and if you'd recommend? Thanks.

Yes, I got the 5810 with XTR2. So far so good. PM me if you want dealer details.
