Happy New Years!!!

My wife and I are in the process of renovating a 2 story colonial while living in it. We will sell, hopefully at a profit, when we can leave the area, date unknown. The 4" cast iron drain pipes are exposed while I'm redoing the 1st floor bath. These pipes are unsightly in the basement as they were run at about eye level and about 1' away from the wall. I had one estimate for $1600 to replace them, but he suggested that there was little reason to do so as they are in good shape and some people pay extra for cast iron because it's quieter. The basement can't really be finished as the I beams just clear 6'. Would this be a good investment?

I definitely agree with Mike. I would not install CI in my house for the cost and expense and labor of it...but if it's there I'd keep it as long as it's in good shape.... not always a good idea to upgrade to the latest technowhizbang stuff.
