I am disconnecting my old deep well pump and replacing it , and want to avoid sending scale back to the foot valve. The water was turned off last fall, and the pump was drained. I am debating whether to prime and start up and run the old pump for a day or two, then drain the system and replace the pump......or to simply replace the pump when I arrive at the house. I am afraid that pulling the poly lines after they have been dry all winter may be riskier than running water through them first.
I also thought about using a hair dryer to soften the poly lines before pulling them from the barbed connectors.
Any suggestions?
