That article is interesting but contains a number of inaccurate and semi-accurate statements.

Electrolysis is not always destructive and is in fact used in plating and other industrial processes. To be more accurate, what is destructive and really of concern with dissimilar metals (like why we use dielectric unions) is galvanic corrosion. You can google that term and learn more.
