I am currently in the process of remodeling a bathroom and this includes a new mixing valve and showerhead. Currently I have installed compression (ball valve) shutoffs on the supply lines, to allow the rest of the house to have water while I work on other issues. My question is when installing the shower (swanstone) walls can the compression fittings be left in place? I have access to the shut-offs from the other side of the wall. I have heard conflicting arguments on either side about having compression fittings behind the walls.
